Celebrations
The Board of Trustees acknowledged the accomplishment of Tara Manych being recognized as receiving the Manitoba Reading Association Crocus Award for Literacy for Administrators.
The MBCI Track and Field Team sent a strong contingent to the Provincial Championships. Twenty three personal best performances were a highlight for the team. The team picked up 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. A special note of congratulations to Paul Rydberg. Paul set a new Provincial Senior Varsity record in winning the Tetrathalon.
Committee of the Whole
The Board of Trustees completed a Satisfaction Survey of the Manitoba School Boards Association services. The Association is reviewing what services it provides to school boards and is seeking input on what they can do to improve. |

Board Borrowing
The final reading of By-Law 1-2010 to allow borrowing to repair Kelsey Community School roof and an Opasquia School wall for $138,700.00 was passed. The Board of Trustees also passed the First Reading of By-Law 2 – 2010 to allow borrowing for operational expenses. Both of these By-Laws are covered by funds provided by the Provincial Government.
Building and Maintenance Committee
The glu-lam project for MBCI will be proceeding with work to begin in August. The inventory of old equipment was put up for auction and funds raised from some of the items were passed on to the Band Boosters. A review of building issues at MBCI is under study by our provincial consultants. It is hoped that a long term solution can be found.
